THE WITCH’S BELL
One of a Kind • Assembled and Finished by Hand
Not everything should cross the threshold with you.
A threshold is more than a doorway. It is the place between one space and another, one condition and the next—a point at which something is either permitted to enter or required to remain behind.
A bell gives sound to that boundary.
Its tone breaks stillness, interrupts what has become stagnant, and marks a deliberate change: the opening of a prayer or working, the completion of a clearing, the crossing into protected space, or the closing of what should not remain open.
THE MEANING WITHIN THE PIECE
The bell represents voice, clarity, and spiritual movement. Sound travels beyond the hand that creates it, carrying intention through a room and making an unseen boundary perceptible. A bell may welcome, warn, clear, call attention, or declare that a moment has ended.
Black is associated with protection, containment, mystery, and the drawing of firm boundaries. It does not represent evil. It represents what absorbs, shields, and holds—the darkness from which something may emerge and within which something may be kept safe.
Silver carries the symbolism of the moon, reflection, intuition, and illumination within darkness. Against the black handle, it represents light that does not erase shadow, but reveals what is present there.
The feathers represent air, movement, freedom, and the passage from one state into another. They respond whenever the bell is lifted, allowing the movement of the hand, the feathers, and the sound to become part of the same act.
The crescent moon marks cycles, transition, becoming, and the power held within what is not yet fully revealed. It speaks to the space between darkness and fullness—the moment when change has begun, even if it is not yet complete.
The skull is not a symbol of harm. It is a remembrance of mortality, truth, transformation, and the wisdom carried forward from what has come before. It reminds us that endings are real, that nothing remains unchanged, and that awareness of death can bring clarity to the way we choose to live.
THE THRESHOLD
Together, these elements form a bell centered on boundaries and conscious transition:
The bell gives the boundary a voice.
The black protects and contains.
The silver reflects and reveals.
The feathers carry movement through the air.
The crescent honors change and becoming.
The skull remembers what has ended and what remains.
The black-and-silver handle was finished by hand and layered with black feathers, a crescent moon, and a skull charm. When the bell is lifted, the feathers move with it, giving the piece a presence that cannot be captured from only one angle.
It was created to be held, rung, and used—not merely displayed.
Ring it before prayer or ritual, after clearing a room, at an entrance, or whenever one moment must be consciously separated from the next. There is no prescribed practice. How, when, and where the bell belongs remains entirely your own.
One of one. Assembled and finished by hand at House of Ravenstone.
